Categories: Morning Messages

Good Morning! I have returned from Annual Conference and I must say it was wonderful.  What a great job by our new Bishop and all that worked hard to make the days be of value.  This year of course was bitter sweet.  This is that last week before the moving van comes for our stuff.  We will be here through the 25th to deliver the message, but this will be the last week of full days in the office.  Carol and I have been so blessed to be a part of this community.  I am sure I will not get a chance to see each of you before we leave, but we love you all.  I will remind you that for awhile we will not return to Salem.  It isn’t because we don’t love you, it is to give your next pastor a chance to get his feet on the ground.  Love him and you have loved us.  Watch over him and pray for him.  The best years of Salem UMC are yet to come.  Yes, I am a feeling very nostalgic this morning.  I opened the garage door to a crowd in the drive for out last week of Salem runs.  It really made my day.  Have a great week and be  blessed!

[ Psalm 19 ] [ For the director of music. A psalm of David. ] The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they reveal knowledge.      Psalm 19:1-2 NIV

The heavens may declare the glory of God, but it is our responsibility to point people’s eyes to the heavens.  I am so pumped after Annual  Conference!  The Missouri Annual Conference is clearly focused on leading people to Jesus through the ministry of the local church.  Friends there has never been a time in my ministry like today.  We certainly face some of the greatest challenges in proclaiming the word, but never have we had the support we have from our church at large.  We are entering a time when we have not because we ask not.  The Missouri Annual Conference will provide the resources to shape our ministry into the next decade.  Training and coaching, mentoring and any number of support resources are at our disposal.  The heaven may indeed declare the glory of God, but the local church has to continue to point others toward this wonderful God we serve.  Just a though for today!

Yesterday’s Question: Why is Shaggy No. 2, Shaggy No. 2?  He is the 2nd Shaggy born.   There is no winner today.
